Council OK’s Tax Breaks for Edy’s Plant

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne City Council approved an estimated $18 million dollar tax break for an ice cream plant in Fort Wayne.

About $15 million of the deal is expected to go for equipment at Edy's Grand Ice Cream north of downtown.  The taxes for the improvements, will be phased in over 10-years.

Nestle' won't pay any taxes for the improvements in its first year.
