Council President Calls for Big Cut in Clerk’s Budget

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne's City Council President wants to drastically slash the City Clerk's budget.

In a Thursday editorial published in the News-Sentinel, John Crawford says he will be filing an ethics complaint with the Clerk's office in response to undercover video released earlier this month that seemingly showed former Clerk Sandy Kennedy threatening employees' jobs if they didn't support Angie Davis' campaign for Clerk. Kennedy stepped down shortly after, citing health reasons.

He also wants to slash the Clerk's office budget by 75%, which is enough to fund it for three months. The rest of the budget would be held back until the probe is finished. Crawford says he wants to make sure illegal electioneering isn't happening.
