FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A one-vehicle crash brought down power lines and left one person in critical condition last night.

Police were called to the intersection of Hillegas and Independence Roads in northwest Fort Wayne at about 11:23pm to find a man pinned in a vehicle, with power lines down in the area. The vehicle appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed on Hillegas, left the road, and hit a utility pole.

The crash left power out in the area for several hours, and also forced the closure of Hillegas Road.

The man, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Police don’t know yet if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
