Driver swerves to avoid animal in DeKalb County, two injured

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Two people were injured in a crash Sunday after trying to avoid an animal in the roadway.

A Nissan Altima was traveling southound on County Road 47 in the 3200 block around 9:30 p.m., when the driver spotted an animal in the middle of the road.

He swerved to avoid it, and went off the roadway and down an embankment, striking a utility pole.

The vehicle then rolled four or five times before coming to a rest.

The 18-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital with complaints of head pain. The 15-year-old passenger was also taken to the hospital with cuts and swelling to his face. Their conditions were not specified at this time.
