East Allen County Schools Budget To Decrease

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Board members for East Allen County Schools discussed a tax rate drop that will drop the general budget by 1.4 percent.

With new enrollment figures recently released, the report certified by the state shows a decline of 72 students. The official count states the district now stands at 8,941 students. The Journal Gazette reports that state aid is tied to student enrollment, and the school board now has to make up for the difference in the budget.

Even with the newly released report, the district now waits on tax assessments. They expect those numbers to released in October.
