Facility Opponents Turn to Crowd-Funding Site

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Some Lafayette Township residents are ramping up their efforts to block a proposed truck and rail transfer facility near Fort Wayne's General Motors plant.

Crown Enterprises wants to break ground soon on a 750,000 square foot warehouse on Winters Road, but after a recent public hearing on the issue was delayed last month, opponents are turning to the internet.

The Journal Gazette reports they've raised around $2,500 to help pay for an attorney hired to fight the construction, saying it doesn't meet Allen County's comprehensive plan requirements and would be encroaching on agricultural and residential properties.
