Fatal Crash Claims Life Of Geneva Man In Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) — At approximately 4:07 a.m. on May 20, 2026, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office along with other emergency personnel responded to a reported single-vehicle accident near the intersection of 000 Road and Covered Bridge Road in Adams County.

The crash was reported by 23-year-old Geneva resident Ramsey D. Pogue. Pogue advised he did not witness the accident, but noticed a vehicle out in the field with an unresponsive male in the passenger seat.
Upon investigation, authorities identified the driver as 61-year-old Geneva resident Nathan P. Clayman.

Clayman was operating a white 2014 Dodge Dart traveling southbound on 000 Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle appeared to lose control near the intersection of Covered Bridge Road and struck a guard rail. Following the collision, the Dodge Dart came to rest in a field located on the east side of the intersection.

The impact partially ejected the driver through the passenger-side window. Deputies noted there was no airbag deployment, and seatbelts appeared not to have been secured at the time of the crash. Despite medical efforts at the scene of the accident, Clayman was pronounced deceased and the Adams County Coroners Office was requested to the scene. There appeared to be no signs of alcohol or drugs involved in this crash.

The incident remains under investigation. Additional information may be released as it becomes available. This incident is currently under investigation. All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Deputies were assisted during this incident by the Adams County Coroner’s Office, Berne Police Department, Geneva Police Department, Geneva Fire Department and Adams County Emergency Medical Services.
