Three Rescued From Floodwaters In Ripley County

RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) — Indiana Conservation Officers and multiple emergency response agencies rescued three people Wednesday morning after they attempted to drive through floodwaters in Ripley County.

According to authorities, conservation officers responded to the scene along with an Indiana State Police diver. Rescue personnel entered the water and used specialized water rescue techniques to safely reach the stranded vehicle and remove all three occupants.

Officials said the individuals were treated at the scene and later released.

Emergency responders are reminding motorists to never attempt to drive through flooded roadways, emphasizing the safety message: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Agencies assisting with the rescue included the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and the New Marion, Holton, and Osgood volunteer fire departments.
