Fire causes heavy damage to Fort Wayne home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  The Fort Wayne Fire Department spent over 45 minutes fighting a blaze on the cities northwest side Sunday morning.

The first call came in around 4:24 a.m. to the 1700 block of Oakland Street, a few blocks east of Hamilton Park.  Crews were on the scene by 4:28 a.m.

The first engine reported heavy smoke from the fire and started to attack the outside of the home with water before entering and searching for anyone inside.  Luckily no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

The fire wasn’t under control until about 5:14 a.m. due to the large volume of flames.

In all the two story home took heavy fire, water and smoke damage.  The fire is currently under investigation.
