INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): The Zika Virus has made its way to Indiana, but health officials say now is not the time to panic.

The case was discovered in a non-pregnant person that had recently traveled to Haiti. The case wasn’t severe enough to require hospitalization and at this point the Department of Health says the risk for Hoosiers remains low.

The Department is asking anyone that may plan on visiting infected areas to take the proper steps to avoid mosquitoes, which is the most common way the virus has spread so far.

There currently is no known vaccine or treatment for Zika, which can cause pregnant women to give birth to babies with severe birth defects.
