Flash Flood Watch Issued for Eastern Indiana

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) _ The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Wayne County in eastern Indiana and a flash flood watch for Fayette, Union and Franklin counties.

The weather service reports up to 2 inches of rain have already fallen in some areas Thursday near the Ohio state line and heavy rain continues to fall with another 1 to 2 inches of rain possible. The weather service says runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding.

Indiana State police report U.S. 35 north of U.S. 36 in Losantville, about 25 miles northwest of Richmond, was closed Thursday afternoon because of flooding. Wayne County officials also were warning about some roads filling with water.
