FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – A Fort Wayne Catholic school closed its doors Friday after almost one third of its students were absent.

Our partners in news at ABC 21 report Queen of Angels School had a student absence rate of 31 percent, mainly caused by the flu.

The Indiana Department of Education recommends schools close for the day if the absence rate reaches 20 percent.

The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend reports the school is following proper sanitation procedures as directed by the Allen County Board of Health.
