Former Ball State Student Sentenced in Child Porn Case

MUNCIE Ind. (WOWO): A former Ball State student was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on charges of child pornography.

According to the Journal Gazette, 21-year-old Joseph R. Topp pleaded guilty nearly a year ago to distribution of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors.

In November 2012, Topp was charged when an undercover FBI agent began conversing with him on a file sharing program. Police discovered child pornography on Topp's electronic devices in his Angola home, as well as his dorm room, located in Muncie, IN.

When agents were searching his things, Topp gave up his thumb drive, Macbook, and a hard drive. The forfeitures to federal agents was part of his plea deal.
