Former Harlan Elementary School sold by EACS

HARLAN, Ind. (WOWO):There’s new life for a former grade school.

The East Allen County School school board approved the sale of Harlan Elementary School to a local church for $270,000. That’s according to the Journal-Gazette.

Sunrise Chapel wants to convert the elementary school into a conference and community center. Other ideas include a childcare facility, a fitness center and a Christian book store.

The school closed in 2011 and sat empty for two years under state law that required them to be available for lease or purchase by charter schools.
