GREENCASTLE, Ind. (AP) _ Former Vice President Dan Quayle is returning to his alma mater, DePauw University, this spring for a speech on national and global events.
Quayle will visit the Greencastle campus March 31 for a free lecture at Meharry Hall that's open to the public. He'll discuss the state of the nation and the world, how he rose to the top levels of the U.S. government and other topics during a moderated discussion.
Quayle, who turns 68 on Wednesday, graduated from DePauw in 1969. He was the second vice president born in Indiana and the fifth who made his home in the state.
Quayle served as vice president from 1989 to 1993 under President George H.W. Bush. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980 and served eight years.
