Fort Wayne “Equality Index” rating falls

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne has some room for improvement when it comes to equality.

That’s according to the Human Rights Campaign’s 2016 Municipal Equality Index, which gives the city a score of 42 out of a possible 100 for not having things like non-discrimination protections for housing options or LGBTQ liaisons in places like the city’s police department and the Mayor’s office.

The city was also criticized for not having a health care program that is specifically transgender-inclusive. The city scored a 52 in 2014.

Statewide, Indiana got a 65, with Bloomington getting a perfect score. Read the full report here.
