Fort Wayne Guard Members Training in Alaska

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (WOWO): More than 180 members of Fort Wayne's Air National Guard are on maneuvers in Alaska.

The 122nd Fighter Wing will train with other units from around the county, as well as Japan and Korea are participating in the exercises at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks.

About a dozen A-10 aircraft will also be deployed.

Officials say the mission is essential to preparedness and provides an opportunity to work with international allies in simulated combat situations, The drills will utilize live weapons, including Army artillery.
