Fort Wayne International Airport sees jump in passengers in 2015

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): More and more people are flying out of Fort Wayne International Airport nowadays.

The airport announced Monday that passenger traffic increased 11 percent in 2015, which marks the sixth straight year of growth.

There were 359,051 passengers boarding planes last year, which marks an increase of almost 25,000 passengers from 2014. It's also a 35 percent increase from traffic in 2009, when passenger traffic started its yearly increase since then.

Total traffic at the airport was 715,907, which is an increase of a little over 72,000 from 2014.

Smith Field also set a record in 2015 for general aviation fuel sales, which soared 70,787 gallons and eclipsed 2014's previous record of 58,030 gallons.
