FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police are responding to a viral video showing an interaction between an officer and a person who was asked to leave Arab Fest over the weekend.

In a statement, the Fort Wayne Police Department said the officer involved was working off-duty at the event and was acting at the request of festival organizers, who had authority over the rented event space.

Police said organizers asked the individual to leave the festival grounds and that refusal to comply with such a request could potentially constitute trespassing under Indiana law.

The department noted that officers working special events often assist organizers with enforcing rules and addressing issues involving individuals who have been directed to leave private or rented property.

Fort Wayne Police said the incident could be reviewed and that additional information would be evaluated as part of that process.

The video circulated widely on social media, prompting questions about the officer’s actions and the circumstances surrounding the removal request. Police have not announced whether any disciplinary action or formal investigation has been initiated.

No further details about the incident or the individuals involved were immediately released.
