Fort Wayne Student Misses Spelling Bee Semi-Finals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s entry in the National Spelling Bee has been bumped from the competition.

Lwin Moe Aung failed to post a high enough score on the computer test to advance to semi-final round. Aung is a seventh-grader at Lutheran South Unity School.

Today, about a dozen students will compete for the title, with a champion set to be crowned tonight.

More than 280 students from around the country competed at the event, including 14 from Indiana. Another spelling from our area, Jinwon Pae of Marion's Justice Intermediate School also participated.
