FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Visitors to Franke Park and the Fort Wayne Zoo should expect temporary traffic and parking changes beginning next week as pavement improvement work gets underway inside the park.

According to Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, two sections of Franke Park Drive within Franke Park will be resurfaced as part of an asphalt pavement improvement project. Construction is scheduled to begin early Monday, June 15.

City officials said motorists may encounter temporary changes to traffic patterns and parking access while crews complete the work. Visitors are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when entering and exiting parking areas.

According to Parks and Recreation officials, the affected road sections will reopen to normal traffic as soon as resurfacing work is completed.

The city noted that access to the west side of Franke Park through the newer entrance off Goshen Road will remain open during construction.

Officials are asking park visitors and zoo guests to be patient as improvements are made to the roadway.
