FWCS Gets National Award

BOSTON, Mass. (WOWO): A local school district is getting some national recognition.

The National School Boards Association has chosen Fort Wayne Community Schools as one of three winners of the Urban School Board Excellence award at their annual conference. The NSBA says FWCS has made “notable progress” in causing a growth in student achievement as well as facing challenges unique to schools in city settings, specifically recognizing their LEAD program among other initiatives.

The district will also get a $2,500 prize.
