FWPD quickly nabs bank robbery suspect

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Downtown Fort Wayne bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon, but it didn’t take police long to catch their man.

The Fort Wayne Police Department says officers were called to the Chase Bank at Washington and Calhoun at about 1:35pm Tuesday after a white man wearing a gray sweat suit and “very thick lens prescription glasses” had entered the bank and passed a teller a note demanding cash.

He got an undisclosed amount and left; police were able to canvas the area and found 61-year-old David Grant of Fort Wayne sitting at a picnic table on the plaza of the building that houses the bank.

This is the second time Grant’s been accused of bank robbery: he just got out of prison this past Monday after serving time for an October 2007 attempt to rob the same bank.
