Gary Man Arrested in Indianapolis Killings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Police have arrested a Gary man in connection with a shootout in Indianapolis that left three dead.

Indianapolis police arrested 20-year-old Montrel Humphrey on Friday morning on preliminary charges of murder and robbery. Humphrey was arrested in Gary and brought to Indianapolis.

The shootout Monday killed 34-year-old Stranger Dunn and 33-year-old Esker Dodson-Walker. Police say a third victim, 21-year-old Valdemar Enriquez, is believed to have been involved in the robbery attempt in a working-class neighborhood on the city's northwest side.

Investigators believe Humphrey, Enriquez and another person were attempting a drug robbery when the shootout occurred. Police say all those involved have connections to Gary.

Police seized heroin and marijuana from the house.

A 10-year-old girl in a nearby home was hospitalized after being hit by a stray bullet.
