Gay Married Couples Could Pay More for Tax Filings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Same-sex couples in Indiana could pay more to file their tax returns this year because of conflicting state and federal policies. A new federal tax policy recognizing gay marriages was introduced after the Supreme Court struck down sections of the Defense of Marriage Act. Indiana was on track to follow suit until Republican Sen. Brandt Hershman of Buck Creek made a late-session change that would prevent the state from adopting the provision.
