Governor Dedicates Speedway Trail Corridor

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WOWO): The Speedway Trail Corridor, a new recreational area in the town of Speedway, has been dedicated in a ceremony led by Governor Mike Pence. The governor called it a “significant contribution” to the state’s existing three-thousand miles of trails. Pence also went on to express his hope to have a trail within 5 miles of every Hoosier. The state is already more than 90 percent of the way toward meeting that goal.

After the Friday afternoon ceremony, Pence led attendees in “Walk a Mile with Mike” on the trail.

The Speedway Trail Association took title to the property in a transaction that closed in April. The Department of Natural Resources holds a conservation easement ensuring public access and permanent protection.
