INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Gov. Mike Pence is urging members of his Cabinet to take state government from “good to great” with copies of a management book by the same name.
The Pence Cabinet met for the first time Wednesday morning in the governor’s Statehouse office. Sitting in front of each of Pence’s top aides was a copy of Jim Collins’s 2001 book “Good to Great” and a printout of the governor’s first proposed budget.
Pence said he’s asking his deputies to look at improving their respective departments.
Pence was sworn in as Indiana’s 50th governor Monday and quickly got to work. He has hired heads for the majority of state agencies and departments but hasn’t decided who will lead the Family and Social Services Administration and the Department of Child Services.
