Gunman’s Name Released in Indianapolis Officer’s Killing

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Police have identified the man they say shot and killed an officer who had forced his way into an apartment where a woman was screaming for help. Officer Rod Bradway was pronounced dead at an Indianapolis hospital after the shootout early this morning. The Marion County Coroner's Office has identified the suspect as 24-year-old Steven Byrdo, who died after exchanging gunfire with police. According to police, Byrdo was hiding behind the door that 41-year-old Bradway kicked in and shot the officer as he went into the apartment. Byrdo had been holding the woman at gunpoint for three hours and she screamed at Bradway that Byrdo was behind the door.
