EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A small, historic home in southwestern Indiana that a protege of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed will be moved to the University of Evansville's campus and restored.

The 552-square-foot home was designed by William Wesley Peters and built in 1935. The one-story dwelling resembles a style of home called “Usonian'' that Wright developed to control construction costs, in part by eliminating attics and basements.

But the Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/1cARD8x ) that the home Peters designed predates Wright's first Usonian home.

William Wesley Peters House Committee chairman Alan Braun says the home designed by the Evansville native is “very architecturally significant.''

The home was purchased last year by Indiana Landmarks. Braun and other committee members are now working to raise the $200,000 needed to move the home.
