Hoosiers Urged to Spread the Word to End the “R-Word”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Today marks National “Spread the Word to End the Word” Day, an effort to get people to stop using the word “retarded”. Across Indiana and the country, people are being asked to take time to think about how their words may affect others. Christine Dahlberg with the Governor's Council on Disabilities says the goal of today is for people to start removing the “R-word” from their vocabulary. March is Disability Awareness Month and throughout the state, organizations are holding awareness events and activities.
