MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) _ An official at a northwest Indiana hospital says 35 of the 50 employees who were told to stay at home in isolation after coming in contact with a man diagnosed with a mysterious virus from the Middle East have been cleared to return to work.
Community Hospital chief medical information officer Dr. Alan Kumar says the remaining 15 were expecting to hear about their final test results for the virus later Monday.
The news Monday that the workers will be allowed to return to work came the same day the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed a second U.S. case of MERS, or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome in Florida. It's a respiratory illness that begins with flu-like fever and cough but can lead to pneumonia and death.
