Fort Wayne Fire crews responded to a report of black smoke coming from the second floor of a home on Jones Street, between Garden and College.

Once there, they encountered heavy smoke and located the fire in the basement, with the fire extending to the 1st and second floors through air ducts.

It was under control in less than 30 minutes. The home was vacant and no injuries were reported, but investigators are still trying to figure out how this thing got started.
