PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WOWO): A Huntington man has been charged with identity theft after living the past twenty-five years under another identity.

The Journal Gazette reports 63-year-old Richard Hoagland was arrested last week after the family of Terry Symansky, who died in 1991, discovered Hoagland had spent the past two-and-a-half decades living as Symansky in Pasco County, Florida.

Hoagland disappeared 25 years ago and was presumed dead, but an Ancestry.com search by one of Symansky’s relatives uncovered the truth.

Hoagland had obtained a pilot’s license, got married, and fathered a child, now a teenager, under the false identity.

He left behind a wife and four kids when he disappeared in 1991, the same year the real Terry Symansky drowned at the age of 33.
