Indiana Basketball Sets Attendance Record

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana University turned its success on the basketball court into a record-breaking season at the ticket office.

The Hoosiers celebrated their first outright Big Ten crown in two decades by playing in front of a record average of 17,412 at 19 home games last season.

That ranked fifth in the nation and marked only the second time since 1985 that the Hoosiers finished in the top five. Sixteen home games were sold out, thanks in part to having the largest student section in America with 7,800 seats.

Assembly Hall's official seating capacity is 17,472.

Indiana has finished in the nation's top 17 in attendance every year since 1972 and led the nation in 1976.
