Indiana Man Accused of Squeezing, Injuring Infant

ROCKPORT, Ind. (AP): A southern Indiana man faces a battery charge after police say he squeezed a crying 5-month-old boy so hard the infant suffered a bruised abdomen and internal injuries.

Twenty-two-year-old Samuel Brinson of Chrisney was arrested Wednesday on battery causing injury to a child under 14 years of age. He remained jailed Friday at the Spencer County Jail.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports State Police believe Brinson was watching the child when he became frustrated with the baby's crying and allegedly squeezed the child too strongly. He's also accused of biting the child's ear when the infant continued crying.

Medical personnel found that the child had internal injuries and bruising on the ear. The child was hospitalized Sunday but has been released from a Louisville, Kentucky, hospital.
