Indianapolis Considering Bid to Host College Football Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Indianapolis is looking into hosting a College Football Playoff Championship game. Indiana Sports Corporation President Ryan Vaughn joined others from the corporation at the championship game Monday in north Texas.

The evaluation process includes several factors, including fitting in the calendar at Lucas Oil Stadium, return on investment and what impact the playoff championship will have on Indianapolis and the state.

Vaughn says they will get specifics on the bid process in early February and will then make the decision whether or not to submit a bid to host the game by May. The College Football Playoff will be held in Phoenix and Tampa, in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

They are taking applications to host the 2018, 2019 and 2020 championship games. College Football Playoff officials have stated they will likely make a decision in September.
