NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): The roads and bridges in northern Indiana are getting a big pay day.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is awarding $51 million to road and bridge funds to 121 northern Indiana communities. New Haven, Fort Wayne and Allen County are all receiving $1 million, according to INDOT Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson.

The money is awarded through the state’s Community Crossing matching grant fund program.

“Northern Indiana communities submitted more applications and requested more funding than any region of the state,” said Hendrickson. “We were pleased to award all of these funding requests within the program’s limit of $1 million per community.”

INDOT made the announcement Wednesday morning alongside New Haven Mayor Terry McDonald. The money will go toward projects on Pawnee Way and the area of Country Knolls in New Haven.
