INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Opposing sides are arguing free speech versus separation of church and state in a court dispute over whether Evansville officials should allow a church to display 30 crosses on public land along the Ohio River.
 
  An American Civil Liberties Union lawyer Thursday tried to convince U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker that erecting the 6-foot crosses on Evansville's Riverwalk would violate the separation of church and state. An attorney for the city is arguing that barring the crosses would tread on free speech rights.
 
  Barker must decide within about two weeks whether to allow the display. The crosses are due to go up Aug. 4 and remain there until Aug. 18.
 
  The ACLU represents two Evansville residents' who want to block the crosses.
