Lawsuit Accuses Indiana College Prep Company of Deception

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ New York's attorney general is suing an Indiana-based college test preparation company, accusing it of “false and deceptive business practices.''

The lawsuit filed Thursday against The College Network also names American Credit Exchange and Southeast Financial Credit Union.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1eTjy55 ) American Credit Exchange is a collection agency owned by Gary Eyler, who also owns The College Network.

The suit seeks to permanently bar the Indianapolis-based company from advertising or selling its nursing materials in New York and permanently bar the two other firms from attempting to collect debts connected to the alleged misconduct.

A temporary restraining order obtained by New York includes requiring the company to “clearly and conspicuously'' disclose on contracts that it's not a degree-granting school.

TCN says in a statement it's “done nothing unlawful.''
