INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Hoosier Lottery executive director says the agency won’t award a contract for a company to become the first private manager of the lottery if one of the bids don’t meet the state’s standards.
Karl Browning says the Hoosier Lottery is reviewing bids submitted by companies and won’t release any information about the proposals until a Sept. 26 lottery commission meeting, when a contract might be awarded.
Formal proposals from bidders were due last week. Four companies submitted information to Hoosier Lottery officials for background checks in anticipation of submitting management proposals. Two of those companies dropped out of the bidding. Camelot Global Services, which runs the national lottery in the United Kingdom, said it dropped out because the state’s process encourages bidders to set expected revenue levels too high.
