Man Faces Child Neglect for Alleged Drunken Ride

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A southwestern Indiana man faces child neglect and other charges after he allegedly drove his two children to his ex-wife's home while intoxicated and tried to evade police.

Forty-year-old Donald Wallace remained jailed Monday on two counts of child neglect, resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger under age 18.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department says the Evansville man's blood-alcohol content was 0.26, more than three times Indiana's legal limit.

Police say Wallace's ex-wife called police Sunday to say Wallace was bringing their two children home following a visit and may have been drinking.

Wallace allegedly accelerated and drove past his ex-wife's home to avoid deputies. A witness says he heard the children screaming and crying after Wallace ran over a curb, jolting the vehicle.
