Man pleads guilty in April Tinsley murder case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The man accused of raping and murdering April Tinsley pleaded guilty Friday morning.

John Miller, 59, pleaded guilty to murder and child molesting charges during a hearing according to our Partners in News at ABC 21. He was in court for a change of venue hearing. He had previously pleaded not guilty in July.

April Tinsley, 8, disappeared from her home in Fort Wayne on April 1, 1988. Her body was found three days later in a ditch about 20 miles away.

Miller was arrested in July after investigators determined him to be a suspect through a genealogy database.

Miller faces a maximum of 80 years in prison, with 50 years for murder and 30 years for child molesting.
