Man Pleads Guilty in Deployment Scheme

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): A Fort Wayne man has pleaded guilty to bilking several companies out of more than $360,000 by accepting pay after telling them he was being deployed, even though he wasn't in the military. Forty-year-old Jerome P. Burney pleaded guilty Monday to one count of wire fraud. Burney's plea agreement calls for him to make restitution to several companies he had bilked as part of his scheme.
