Milton-Madison Bridge Speed Limit Raised to 35 MPH

MADISON, Ind. (AP): Motorists who use the new Ohio River bridge that links Milton, Kentucky, and Madison, Indiana, can cross the bridge once again at its normal 35 mph speed limit.

The Milton-Madison Bridge's speed limit had been cut to 20 mph with lane restrictions while crews worked on touch-up painting on the bridge's truss.

But officials who oversee the bridge that was formally dedicated last month say crews with Walsh Construction have ended their painting work for the year because of the onset of cold weather. That painting work will resume next spring.

The U.S. 421 bridge reopened to traffic in April after its 30 million-pound steel truss was moved from temporary piers to its permanent spot. The half-mile-long truss is the longest in North America to be slid laterally into place.
