Missing Man Identified in Vigo County Bodies Case

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) – An elderly man reported missing by his family has been identified as the man whose body was found with a woman's remains in rural western Indiana.

Indiana State Police identified the man Wednesday as 76-year-old Nevelland Thompson Jr. of Terre Haute.

Family members had reported Thompson missing to Terre Haute police on Oct. 12, two days after he was last seen. His body was found Saturday under a small bridge on a driveway leading to an abandoned home in northwestern Vigo County.

State police say the cause of Thompson's death remains undetermined.

An autopsy on a woman whose remains were found with Thompson's showed she was strangled. She remains unidentified.
