FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Four thousand residents city water for the first time.

Mayor Tom Henry joined other city officials to Wednesday celebrate the completion of phase 3B of a project that converts former Aqua Indiana customers to City Utilities.

Officials say there's now quality, affordability and higher water pressure.

That brings the total number of customers converted from Aqua Indiana to City Utilities to about 9,000. Another 4,000 should be linked before the end of the year.

Menon says connected customers in Southwest Allen County have saved a total of $800,000 collectively in eight months.
