GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) _ The bishop of a Gary church says she was unaware the driver of bus carrying parishioners involved in a crash that killed a 6-year-old boy was driving with a suspended license.
Bishop Lois Hill told WISH-TV all she knows about Charles Goodman's driving record was what was in a state police report. State police said Goodman had a suspended license and was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Lake County for failing to appear in court for a traffic offense.
Hill said she had no comment on the suspension or warrant.
State police say the 15-passenger bus that crashed Tuesday near Indianapolis lacked a required U.S. Department of Transportation registration number. Hill disputed the vehicle needed the number, saying the vehicle was legal.
