New Judge to Hear Gingerich Murder Case

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO) An Indiana judge who sent a 12-year-old boy to adult court where he pleaded guilty to murder won’t preside over a hearing to determine if the boy should be tried as a juvenile.  The attorney who filed a successful appeal on behalf of Paul Gingerich requested a new judge.  Gingerich is now 15 and in juvenile prison for helping a friend kill his stepfather in 2010.  The state Court of Appeals threw out Gingerich’s guilty plea and sentence in December and ordered the new hearing, saying a Kosciusko County judge acted hastily when he waived the case to adult court.
