Notre Dame’s Basilica Reopens After Tile Installed

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): The University of Notre Dame's nearly 140-year-old church has reopened after being closed since Christmas for renovations, including installing new slate tile flooring to improve acoustics. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart reopened Monday, a few days later than expected as work was completed. Basilica director Rev. Peter Rocca says the new tiling will enhance the acoustics inside the church and eliminate the need to replace the carpeting every 10 to 15 years.
