Ohio fall colors expected to peak on schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP): Ohio officials say the state's fall foliage colors are predicted to peak right on schedule this year.

As the days get shorter, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources expects leaves will change color close to traditional timing. ODNR Fall Color Forester Casey Burdick says fall foliage colors are expected to peak in northern Ohio around mid-October, in central Ohio during the third week of October and in southern Ohio at the end of October.

The department says Ohio has more than 100 tree species, which makes for a colorful autumn.

Weekly color updates and videos of color hotspots around the state will be posted on the state agency's website.
